Hit and Run

Officers were dispatched to the area of McDonald’s restaurant Aug. 17 at 9:10 a.m. on the report of a car vs pedestrian.

When police arrived they learned that Jeffrey Eastman, 25, of 107 Gaylord Mountain Road, Bethany struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene.

According to the report, Eastman was located a short time later in Bethany. He was charged with failure to avoid a pedestrian and evading the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

He was released on $200 bond for court Aug. 31.


Drunken Driving

Patrol officers conducting radar, reportedly clocked a car going 84 mph in a 30 mph zone on Marsh Hill Road, Aug. 16 at 12:36 a.m.

When they stopped the car, officers administered roadside sobriety tests to Shane Austin, 40, of 76 Ocean Ave, West Haven.

Austin was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (DUI) and speeding.

He was released on $100 bond for court Aug. 30.



Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at TJ Maxx 538 Boston Post Road, on Aug. 16 at 12:28 p.m.

Investigation revealed that Carrie Thompson, 42, of 17 Horton Ave, Meriden, had selected $87.91 worth of merchandise, then left the store without paying.

Store security agents detained her and turned her over to police.

Thompson was charged with sixth-degree larceny and held on $500 bond for court Aug. 17.
