Dave Kennedy is a great business neighbor in Orange. Just before Hurricane Sandy hit, we ran into Dave at the Highway Department’s sand shed, where he and his children were filling sand bags.

We wished him luck and within two days his name came up at the Orange Emergency Shelter — Kennedy, the owner of Reno’s Pizzeria delivered a couple of pizzas to the CERT volunteers who’d set up and manned the shelter for any residents seeking a hot shower or warm place to sleep.

While the shelter was open, the CERT command center kept Reno’s phone number  on hand just in case for lunch and some dinners. Garden Salad also came to the shelter for the nightly dinners for residents staying there.

Now that everyone in Orange has electricity again and residents are picking up the pieces after Sandy, Kennedy has decided to continue giving back to the community.

On Sunday, Nov. 18, Reno’s Pizzeria, 500 Boston Post Road will donate $5 for every pizza costing more than $15 to the town Community Assistance Fund.

The phone number is 203-799-7366.

Actually he delivered four pies to the CERT Team at the Shelter. Thanks Dave… they were delicious. Al Mushin, Orange CERT leader.
