Tri Town students had six unscheduled days off as a result of Superstorm Sandy and the October snowstorm.

Making up the missed days was on the agenda at the Dec. 10 Amity Board of Education meeting, during which they had to decide whether the students in Bethany, Orange and Woodbridge would lose any time from their April vacation next year.

The Amity School District can make up one more snow day in June before administrators will have to start cutting from April vacation.

The Amity BOE voted to adopt a new schedule to make up the current missed school days. During the board discussion it was mentioned that students will go to school on March 22, which is on the school calendar as a teachers’ professional development day, and students will have to go to school longer in the month of June.

If there are no more snow days, the last day of school will be Thursday, June 20. but if  there are more school closures, Friday, June 21 will be added  as the last day — before the board starts cutting from April vacation beginning with the Friday of that vacation week.
