Joan M. Donahue of Fairfield, beloved wife of 65 years of John G. Donahue, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, January 12, 2013.
Born in Westboro, MA, the daughter of the late Noah and Abigail Trank, she had been a Fairfield resident for the last 65 years.
She was a graduate of LaSalle Junior College, and prior to her marriage, worked as a legal secretary for a law firm in Boston. Mrs. Donahue later worked within the Fairfield education system.
An active long-time parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, she was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Altar Guild. Joan was an avid gardener and reader, loved quilting, but above all else, delighted in her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors in addition to her loving husband John include five beloved children, Susan D. Moore and her husband Michael of Orange, Jane D. Torello and her husband Bruce of Woodbridge, Megan D. Eckenberger and her husband Stephen of Weston, Annie D. Pastore and her husband Glenn of Otisfield, ME and John G. Donahue, Jr. of New York City; nine loving grandchildren; two cherished great-grandsons; a niece and two nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Lindsey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield.
Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
