Jeanette M. Heinrichs, 95, of Orange, died January 15, 2013. She was the widow of William J. Heinrichs, to whom she had been married for 55 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marion Maiorano, her baby brother Russell, her brother, Dr. Joseph Maiorano, and sister Marguerite Grillo.
Jeanette is survived by her son, William J. Heinrichs, Jr. and his wife, Sheryl; two grandchildren, William III and Katherine; two sisters, Doris Maiorano, and Marion Ritucci, and a brother, Kenneth Maiorano.
A graduate of West Haven High School, Class of 1934, Jeanette graduated from the Hospital of St. Raphael (HSR) School of Nursing in 1937, receiving her Registered Nurse license from the State of Connecticut. She served as a surgical scrub nurse to Dr. William J. Verdi at HSR and later worked as a private duty nurse.
During the Korean War she and her husband chaired the American Red Cross Blood Program in West Haven.
In Orange, Jeanette was a communicant of Holy Infant Church and a member of its Women’s Guild. She belonged to the Orange Historical Society, the Orange Women’s Republican Club, Friends of the Case Memorial Library, and the Orange Friendlies, a senior organization.
She also volunteered in several offices for the Town of Orange.
The Keenan Funeral Home, West Haven, is in charge of arrangements. There are no calling hours and the burial is private.
