The butterfly stroke

The Amity Swim and Dive Team improved its record to 8-0 with Tuesday night’s Southern CT conference win over Branford at the High Plains Pool in Orange.

Amity took 7 of the 12 events, with a final score of 95-77 (eerily similar to last week’s 95-79 victory over Xavier).

A.J. Pite and Brian Liang were dual winners in this meet with Liang taking the 200 yard individual Medley in 2:08:52 and Pite placing first in the 50 yard Freestyle at 23:28. Then Pite and Liang along with teammates Ben Bacal and Sam Guerra won the 200 yard Freestyle Relay in 1:36:34.

Jacob Laser also made a fine contribution to the team with his two individual first place finishes in the 100 yard freestyle at 50:12 and the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59:73.

Charlie Pite grabbed the blue ribbon for the 200 yard freestyle with a winning time of 1:51:20.

Rounding out Amity’s great night in the home pool was Dylan Swanepoel with a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle at 4:48:93

Records: Amity remains undefeated at 8-0 and Branford is now 6-1

The team travels to Glastonbury on Friday Feb. 1, for a 5 p.m. meet
