Doc and daughters

Doc and his daughters taken the day before his passing.

The saddest news I’ve had all week is right here and now.

George “Doc” Whitney, 94, has passed away.

The last time we saw Doc in Orange was on Jan. 1 at the Chilly Chili Run 5K, which he completed.

Over the past couple of days we’ve received many comments from residents who knew him during his remarkable lifetime.

I will follow up with another story soon.

Goodbye Doc, you can relax now. You are missed.

  1. Rest in peace, Doc. Condolences to the family of a truly great man.

  2. thank you so much for the wonderful words… that picture was taken yesterday… he had to go for a “5K” up to the top of the driveway and back down … with assistance from his loving daughters… Lee, Kate and Carolyn who have been with him.

  3. Rest is peace Doc. You are the most wonderful person anyone could have known. Right to the end you made your final 5k. What a trooper you are. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loving daughers. You will be missed by everyone and will be watching down from heaven on all of your family and friends. Orange CT has lost a great person.. .
