Edward S. Burch

Edward S. Burch, 85, of Village at Mariner’s Point, East Haven, beloved husband of Louise Sabellico Burch, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Hospital of St. Raphael.

Edward was born in Ansonia, April 4, 1927, son of Stanley and Anna Gulomb Burch. He grew up in Ansonia and lived there for many years, moving to Orange in 1974, and most recently to East Haven in 2011.

Mr. Burch served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed for over 30 years with Pratt & Whitney before retiring as Foreman of Quality Control in 1984. Edward was a member of the West Haven Elks Club, and the American Legion, Orange Post 127.

He was a skilled craftsman, building his own home and many pieces of furniture. He loved to fish, golf and do the polka! In his retirement he enjoyed a glass of “potato juice” while working on jigsaw puzzles and listening to music, especially the performances of his granddaughter Michelle.

Besides his loving wife Louise of 63 years, Ed is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Paul) Peters, of Old Saybrook, Susan (James) Funaro, of North Haven, two very special grandchildren, Michelle Funaro of North Haven, and Jesse (Stefanie) Peters, of Windsor Locks; a cherished great granddaughter, Marielle Peters. Edward also leaves his sister, Cecelia Wojciechowski of Ansonia, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Chester Burch, a brother Leo Burch, and a sister Anna Wojciechowski.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00.

The funeral will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Wednesday morning at 10:15 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Road, West Haven, at 11:00.

Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery will be private.
