14-Year-Old Arrested For Making Online Threats

In today’s world, mental instability and violence, sadly are more prevalent than ever. The news is plastered with “crazy” talk from some of our nation’s lawmakers, mass shootings are on the rise and all is not well. The Amity community is not immune to the madness.

On Saturday, Jan. 28, a juvenile shared a social media threat via Instagram with multiple area students

On Sunday, Jan. 29,  members of the Woodbridge Police Department arrested a 14-year-old Woodbridge resident for their involvement in the social media threat. The juvenile was charged with two counts of second-degree threatening, and second-degree breach of peace. He was scheduled to be arraigned in New Haven Juvenile Court on Monday, Jan. 30.

The comprehensive investigation was conducted by members of the Woodbridge Police Department, the Orange Police Department, the New Haven Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Amity School District administration.
