Helena Mucci-Scaia, 87, passed away peacefully Sept 6th at Connecticut Hospice, Branford CT. She was born on August 7th 1926 in Bridgeport CT to Angelina (DeFelice) and Martin Parrella.
In her early years, she lived in Bridgeport CT with her six sisters and two brothers. She attended Bridgeport public schools. Helena was a passionate cook, enjoyed entertaining at her home and was happiest with a house full of friends and relatives.
She had a giving spirit and was a joy to be around. She loved decorating her home, gardening and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She especially enjoyed visits from her nieces and nephews who made the trip from Connecticut or Medford MA when she lived in Beverly.
She belonged to a Beverly Gardening Club and the Vittori Rocci Post, an Italian American War Veterans club in Beverly.
She enjoyed her time working in the jewelry business and held office positions at various companies.
Helena is survived by her loving husband of 29 years Augustus Scaia, her son Robert Mucci and his wife Marcia of Methuen MA, grandchildren David Mucci of Chicago and Lauren Mucci of Methuen MA, stepchildren Robert Scaia and his wife Darlene of Shelton, and Wendy Scaia of Stratford , sister Marion Demas and husband Augustus of Trumbull, Joseph Parrella and wife Tina (deceased) of Stratford, sister Violet Conti and husband Al Conti (deceased) of Mission Viejo CA , sister Anna Demas and husband William Demas of Phoenix AZ, sister Elsie Kirk and husband James of Lakeview FL, sister Martha Baldwin and husband Robert of Milford and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her brother Anthony Parrella and wife Rosalie of Bridgeport, and sister Geraldine and husband Martin of Bridgeport.
Helena lived in Beverly MA and was married to Salvatore Mucci until his death in 1982.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange CT 06477.
