Film maker Victoria Negri at the Orange Ale House on Oct. 3.

On Thursday, Oct. 3, Victoria Negri  hosted a fundraising event at the Orange Ale House to help raise money for her feature film Gold Star, which she will be shooting this winter in New Haven County at various locations.

She plans to employ many people in the CT film community.  Negri’s semi-autobiographical film is based on her relationship with her late WWII veteran father, Carmine, a 40 year Orange resident.
Gold Star is about Vicki, a 25 year old woman, who seeks to uncover her 90 year old father’s long hidden secret, while simultaneously accepting his mortality,” she explained. “It’s an unconventional coming of age story.”
Many residents in Orange knew Carmine Negri for his road racing skill and as a longtime participant in the annual Chilly Chili Run. He was one of the senior runners who, along with George “Doc” Whitney, made it okay for older residents to get up and show what they were capable of.
At the fundraiser, the Ale House was packed and several prizes were raffled off, including a Gold Star movie poster; performer/family friend Ben Levin entertained.
Victoria said the event was a success, raising a couple thousand dollars. She said she is grateful to everyone who came out to support her project.
