He was the beloved husband of Irene Papadapoulos Anthis.
Mr. Anthis was born in Corfu, Greece on March 8, 1932, son of the late Nicolas and Maria Anthis. Prior to coming to this country, he served in the Greek National Police for 15 years.
He came here in 1969 and embarked on a restaurant career, operating The Elm Diner in West Haven for 20 years followed by The Fairfield Diner in Fairfield, The Shoreline Diner in Guilford and Georgie’s Diner in West Haven.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Nikolas Anthis and one daughter, Georgette (Greg) Kapetaneas, both of Fairfield; a brother, Konstantinos Anthis and a sister, Eftihia Vitouladitis, both in Greece.
Arrangements were entrusted to The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight), New Haven. Funeral services were at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange Thursday morning. Interment followed in the Orange Center Cemetery.
