The Blue Buffalo – grain free snacks and others were all okay “made in the USA.” But when it came to her #1 favorite grain free treats ever – the sweet potato fries and chips – I was alarmed after scouring all of the packaging, there it was in tiny print “Made in China.”
What is possibly more disturbing is that the American company from which I order these treats, e-mailed the FDA’s notice out EVERY DAY this week. So WHY are THEY still selling them?
In the description, it states that the treats are good for the dog’s hips, healthy and delicious, but nowhere in their literature does it mention that they may kill my dog.
If the FDA can’t figure out what is toxic about the China imports, then shouldn’t the US stop importing them until they find the problem? Not everyone will see this column, the earlier article or the FDA warning and more pets may become ill or die.
I went to Pet Supplies Plus today and found Sweet Potato treats that are Made In the USA. Nearby were the China imports. If you buy treats for your pet (cat or dog) please read all the packaging carefully, even if you see “Distributed by — Ohio, USA” somewhere in the fine print it still could say “Made in China.” — That’s how the $20 worth of sweet potato treats that I bought for Mi Sun was labeled.
Let’s do all we can to keep our pets healthy and ALIVE especially during the holidays when friends and family may unknowingly give our pets a toxic gift.
If your dog loves sweet potato treats as much as my girl, HERE is a recipe that I found online. It’s super easy, it just takes some time and is guaranteed to be “Made in the USA.”
