All enrollment fees collected by new members from November 3rd – November 13thwill be donated to Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare
Planet Fitness locations will also collect non-perishable food items to benefit each organization
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and giving back to those in need, Planet Fitness, the innovative health club franchise known for its Judgment Free Zone® and affordable prices, today announced a charitable promotion that allows new members to “name their own price” to join, with 100% of the enrollment fees donated to Connecticut Food Bank or Foodshare. The state-wide initiative to end hunger will run from Sunday, Nov. 3 to Nov. 13 at 29 participating PlanetFitness locations, including the one at 400 Boston Post Road, Orange.
Prices at Planet Fitness are extremely affordable. New members pay an enrollment fee and then just $10 a month. As part of the “Name Your Own Price” to join campaign, PlanetFitness is offering an enrollment fee as low as $5 which will be donated to Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare – two local organizations that share in the mission to provide nutritious food to local people in need. As a result, members can join PlanetFitness and have access to a healthier lifestyle while making a difference to end hunger for their neighbors at the same time.
“At Planet Fitness, we offer a non-intimidating environment where everyone can feel comfortable while working toward achieving a healthier lifestyle,” said Dr. Charles Anderson, Chief Wellness Officer, Planet Fitness CT. “We are thrilled to partner with Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare to help provide nutritious food to those who need it most, especially during the holiday season when there is increasing demand for food assistance.”
Connecticut Food Bank distributes food and other resources to more than 650 local emergency food programs throughout six counties in Connecticut, and Foodshare serves 300 community partners in two counties.
Hunger directly impacts all of the local communities PlanetFitness serves, so in addition to the “Name Your Own Price” to join campaign, participating locations will also be collecting non-perishable food items for each of the food banks in bulk.
“Planet Fitness is a great partner for us because they are giving the community the opportunity to help in a very meaningful way, and helping to raise awareness for the growing need for food in Connecticut,” said Nancy L. Carrington, Connecticut Food Bank’s President & CEO. “November is an ideal time to build awareness of the food insecurity faced by more than 520,000 people in Connecticut, however, hunger is an everyday problem in our state. We are grateful to Planet Fitness for their community partnership to help end hunger.”
Planet Fitness is known for “no” judgment and intimidating gym situations. Through the “Name Your Own Price” to join campaign, Planet Fitness is also saying, “No to hunger in Connecticut.”
