Orange Firefighters were called to stand by at the Woodbridge Firehouse tonight as Woodbridge, Bethany and Prospect Firefighters battled a fully involved HOUSE FIREon Coachmans Lane in Woodbridge.
A neighbor called 911 to report flames shooting out of the windows and the “possibility of kids in the house” around 8:30 p.m. No one was home when the fire broke out.
Firefighters had their work cut out for them as there are no fire hydrants in that area. Water had to be shuttled in and it took several trucks several trips to get the job done.
Neighbors lined the road and watched in disbelief as the heavy smoke blew over them through the trees surrounding the home. A woman close to the situation covered her face with her hands as a friend tried to comfort her. One woman said the family had cats which were trapped inside the house.
No other information is available at this time.
Activity at the scene seemed to be slowing down around 10:39 p.m. and Orange Firefighters were getting ready to return to town at 11:20 p.m.
