blood_drive-244x300-1You never know when you may need a life-saving blood transfusion. Accidents and illnesses happen all the time when we least expect them and it would be tragic if the hospital you were in was experiencing a blood shortage when you need it most.

The American Red Cross is hosting the following blood drives:

Temple Emanuel of Greater New Haven

150 Derby Ave

Tuesday December 17: 1-6pm

Call today to make an appointment at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit WWW.redcrossblood.org.

Urgent Care Center of CT

109 Boston Post Road

Friday December 27: 11-4pm

Call today to make an appointment at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit WWW.redcrossblood.org.

Won’t you consider donating a pint? You could help save up to 3 lives.

In order to donate you must be healthy — feel well and be able to perform normal activities.

If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, healthy also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control.

You must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.

The Red Cross continually run blood drives..as the need is constant throughout the year. They do declare emergency blood needs around the holidays due to lack of donor flow.

Red blood has a shelf life of 42 days and platelets only 7 days.
