This hasn’t  been a stellar year for the Amity Boys Varsity Basketball team. Although the boys play hard, their record so far just doesn’t compare to past years.

On Saturday, the Spartans traveled to Middletown where host team Xavier really stole the spotlight.

At the end of the first quarter, Amity was ahead 11-10; then Xavier took over the lead in the second quarter by 10 points, 27-17, and never let go.

The Spartans rallied in the third quarter, but could not catch up due to their challenger’s aggressive play. Xavier was still ahead at then end of the third 41-26.

Amity made 12 points to Xavier’s 10 in the final quarter, but ultimately Xavier won the challenge 51-38.

Matt Ronai was the Spartan’s high scorer with 12 points; just below the games top point maker, Xavier’s Brandon MacPherson with 14 points.
