A file photo of a large, healthy coyote.

Early Thursday morning,  just after midnight, Daisy, and older German Shepherd mix went outside to do her “business” in her backyard on Taulman Road as her human companion waited by the door.

After a minute or so, the man heard Daisy whimper, like she was afraid, and he ventured outside to check on her.

Two “big” coyotes were standing on either side of the terrified dog.

The man yelled and the two wild dogs took off.

“We checked Daisy over and she was ok. She hadn’t been bitten or anything, but she was shaken up,” he said. “I think that if I hadn’t been there they may have [attacked] her.”

This neighborhood is right off of Old Tavern Road near Old Tavern Park.

Just like any wild animal, the coyotes are out there looking for food, so make sure to keep a close eye on the surroundings when your pet is outside. If you see one or two in your yard, make noise like this resident did and hopefully they will run away.

I’m so happy that this story had a happy ending.
