Evading

An Orange resident turned himself in on a warrant Jan. 7 at 9 p.m.

The warrant against Lawrence Cooper, 51, of 251 Currier Dive, stemmed from a Nov. 29,2013 incident when Cooper allegedly struck a fence at 240 Indian River Road with his vehicle and then drove off without contacting the property owner or police.

According to the report,  a witness observed the incident and contacted officers.

The investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Cooper was charged with evading responsibility of a motor vehicle. He was released on a promise to appear in court Jan. 21.

Motor Vehicle Violations

Officers were dispatched to a home on Hitching Post Drive in regards to the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

During the investigation, officers learned that Dennis Draeger, 20, of 204 New Haven Ave., Apt. 5E, Derby, had come to the home of a relative and took a car from the driveway without asking.

He later returned the vehicle and attempted to return to his own residence, but police located him nearby, where he was taken into custody and charged with using a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission and driving without a license.

Draeger was held on $500 bond for court Jan. 8.
