Aside from the venue change, this year the alcoholic beverages were provided by Racebrook Wine & Liquor World.
There was a variety of wines to sample plus beer, flavored vodka and cognacs.
What was particularly nice about the event was the knowledge of the vendors, especially Racebrook’s owner Tom Smith, who would pour a sampling of a wine, and then suggest something surprising to do with it.
For example, there was a delightful cranberry wine that was really good on its own, but Smith suggested trying it with a splash of Loopy vodka, that smelled and tasted like Fruit Loops cereal. If you like something sweet, this was a surprisingly nice treat.
From listening to him chat with guests about wine and other alcoholic beverages, you could tell that he truly knew what he was talking about, from how to mix drinks; serving liqueurs; to what wines go best with certain foods.
The event committee did a phenomenal job putting everything together, including providing a wide variety of highly desirable gift baskets which provided extra funds for Lions charities through raffle ticket sales.
Well done, Orange Lions and everyone involved. This was a great event.
