On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Orange Volunteer Fire Department responded to a garage fire on Indian River Road at 12:41 pm.
When Fire Chief Charlie Gagel arrived, there was heavy smoke pouring from the divided garage in the rear of the property belonging to the Dalling family.
Luckily, there was a fire hydrant directly across the street from the driveway on Indian River Road, and the fire was knocked down fairly quickly, according to Gagel. The fire was contained to the left half of the divided garage, which served as a mechanic’s bay and housed a commercial truck.
Sadly, Keith Dalling sustained burns to his leg and stomach. He is recovering.
The dump truck that was parked in the garage is the Dalling Family’s primary source of income (Michelle Dalling & Daughters Dump Truck Service, LLC) was destroyed in the fire.
The family had insurance, but it only covered the garage, not the truck.
