Commuter Rail travel to New York has been suspended.

Metro-North service in Harlem was closed earlier this morning due to a building explosion in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.

Officials said the gas explosion occurred in the area of 116th Street and Park Avenue. Two people are dead and at least 18 others are injured.

Con Ed was en route to the area on a report of a gas leak prior to the explosion.

Metro-North officials said service was suspended because of debris on the tracks. Passengers would be notified about alternative routes as soon as it gets them.
