Saint Patrick was not Irish, but he is credited with bringing Christianity to the people of Ireland.
Although wearing the color green is a St. Patrick’s Day tradition, Saint Patrick wore blue (known as St. Patrick’s Blue).
Saint Patrick used the Shamrock to explain the Christian Holy Trinity.
Green is symbolic of the Shamrock and the green color of the landscape of Ireland (The Emerald Isle).
It is believed Saint Patrick died on March 17, so this is why we celebrate his day today.
Tonight the Republican Town Committee with two of its most prominent Irishmen, First Selectman Jim Zeoli and Town Clerk Patrick O’Sullivan will celebrate the day with a fundraising dinner in West Haven.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Don’t drink and drive and celebrate responsibly.
