The Amity Lacrosse Team fought hard against Guilford at a home game on Thursday afternoon, taking the lead early and never letting go.
At the half Amity was ahead 6-1, but then Guilford picked it up and the game was on.
Amity outshot Guilford 26-22. It was a battle of the James’s at the nets. Amity’s James Chapman made 16 saves; Guilford’s James Bright had 6 for his team.
Amity: Matt DeLizio, David Buono and Brad Uscilla each made 2 goals; Ajay King had 2 goals and 2 assists; Steve Sember had 1 goal and 2 assists; Joe Choiniere had 1 goal and 2 assists; and Tyler Burns was credited with 3 assists.
Guilford: Will Dacey and Eric Zergiebel each made 2 goals; Jack Hyzak had 1 goal; Rob LoRicco and Frank Ranfone each made 1 goal and 1 assist.
AMITY 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 = 10
GUILFORD 1 – 0 – 3 – 3 = 7
Coach Brandon Pepe could not have been more proud of his team.
“This was a great win for us as Guilford has a great lacrosse program, and are always a very well coached team,” Pepe said. “Our goalie, James Chapman, was unbelievable in net. He made a few very difficult saves early on, and the defense rallied behind him. This was a great display of Amity lacrosse today.”
