IMG_8498The Amity Girls Varsity Lacrosse team has had a pretty good run so far this season. Here are two games from the past week (one win, one loss) leaving them with a 4-2 record thus far.

Amity vs Cheshire

On Saturday, April 19, the Lady Spartans hosted Cheshire in Woodbridge at the half, with a score of 7-5 they had a little catching up to do, but it was still anyone’s game. Cheshire rose to the challenge making 9 goals to Amity’s 3 and ultimately defeating Amity 16-8.

Cheshire outshot Amity 30-15. Amity goalie, Jena Casman made 11 saves; Cheshire’s Alexa Carbone made 10 saves.

Amity’s Sarah Turner was the game’s high scorer with 6 goals; Liz Marino and Kira Saunders each added 1 goal for the Lady Spartans. Eleanor Henn had 1 assist.

Cheshire’s Maddy Levy made 5 goals and had 1 assist; Taylor Stauffer 3 goals; Michelle Federico, 2 goals, 3 assists;  Megan Dutchyshyn, 2 goals, 1 assist; Olivia Larson, 2 goals;  Danielle Chambrelli, 1 goal and 1 assist; Emma Gaudio rounded out Cheshire’s action with 1 assist.

Amity vs West Haven

On Thursday, April 24, the Lady Spartans hit the road for a narrow 11-10 SCC victory against host team West Haven. 

West Haven took an early lead with 6-4 at the half, then Amity pulled it together and blasted past West Haven with 8 goals in the second half.

Amity’s Sarah Turner made 3 goals, Liz Marino had 2 goals, 2 assists; Taylor Portelinha and Becky Turner each had 2 goals; Kira Saunders had 1 goal, 1 assist; Kendra Osinski had 1 goal; Bella Ferro had 1 assist.

West Haven’s Ava Gambardella was the game’s high scorer with 4 goals, 1 assist; Melanie Reiss had 3 goals, 1 assist; Allyson Hemstock had 2 goals, 1 assist; and Alyssa Talmelli made 2 goals.

Both goalkeepers worked hard in this competition. Amity’s Jena Casman made 7 saves; Josey Militrano made 10 saves for West Haven.
