Amity Middle SchoolThe Amity Regional School District #5 Board of Education has hired Neil Holt to serve as Assistant Principal at the Orange Campus of Amity Regional Middle School. Mr. Holt is currently serving as a Spanish teacher at the Orange Campus of Amity Regional Middle School, where he has been since 2007.

“From a pool of more than 120 candidates, Neil rose to the top with exemplary demonstrated skills in both organizational leadership and instructional leadership,” stated Charles Dumais, Superintendent of the Amity Regional School District. “His broad middle school teaching history and his experience as a Content Leader in the district contribute to his suitability for this position.”

Mr. Holt has been a middle school Spanish teacher since 1999, having taught in Orange, CT, Hamden, CT, South Brunswick, NJ, and Worcester, MA. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University (Bachelor of Arts, Psychology/Sociology), and holds a sixth-year degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Massachusetts.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve such an excellent school, with its outstanding staff and supportive community,” stated Mr. Holt upon learning he had been selected for the Assistant Principal position at the Orange Campus of Amity Regional Middle School. “I love working with middle school students, and I intend to work hard to strengthen the culture of learning, high expectations, and caring that makes our school such a wonderful place.  With my knowledge of the school, and having worked as part of the school leadership team over the past few years, I look forward to a smooth transition into the coming school year.”

Mr. Holt will begin his role as Assistant Principal on July 1, 2014.
