Catherine Simoncelli McKeon, wife of George McKeon, passed away on April 30, 2014, at The Connecticut Hospice, Branford, CT. Catherine was born on November 8, 1932, in West Haven, the daughter of the late Aurelio and Anita Gabucci Simoncelli.
In addition to her devoted husband, George, she is survived by her son, Kevin McKeon and his fiancée Jacquelyn Donovan of West Haven; and her daughter, Jill McKeon and her wife Cathy Vitelli of Orange.
She also leaves behind grandchildren Rachel McKeon of Ansonia and Taylor McKeon of Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marie (John) Pascale, Viola (Jerome) Massimino and Zoe (Fred) Manocchi; and her brother, V. Paul Simoncelli. She leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Catherine graduated from West Haven High School, class of 1950. She worked for the former Second National Bank of New Haven and more recently for Weight Watchers in Orange. She volunteered for many years at Milford Hospital. She was also a member of the West Haven Italian American Association’s Auxiliary. Catherine was active in Our Lady of Victory Parish, working as an usher and as a member of the Parish, Pastoral Councils and Parish Social Justice Committee.
For many years Catherine suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and was lovingly cared for at home by her husband until it was necessary to admit her to hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday May 5, 2014, 11:00 am, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Road, West Haven, CT. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
