IMG_4537Mother Nature was smiling down on Peck Place School Saturday morning as 172 runners and walkers enjoyed dry weather for the second Annual Peck Place Panther Pounce fundraising 5k.

It was wonderful seeing entire families running together, and parents pacing themselves so their children could cross the finish line ahead of them.

There were plenty of out-of-towners competing in this race that followed the established Chilly Chili Run route.

The top male and female runners both were from out of town: Tim Milenkevich, 32, of Ansonia, who is no stranger to Orange 5k races was the overall wnner with a time of  16:16. Top female runner was Janet Criscuolo,  39, of Woodbridge, who was fifth overall, crossing the finish line about 4.5 minutes later at 20:39.

Of the local residents, Roland Beaudette, 44 had a time of 18:11, earning him first place in the 40-49 age group. Two of his children, Mason, 10, won first place in the 8-12 age category with a time of 22:30 (he was 10th overall); and Lani, 13, came in third in the 13-16 age group with a time of 27:56.

Congratulations to all the participants for making it to the finish and to the organizers for putting on the perfect family-friendly event.
