Amity players console one another while Southington celebrates its 1-0 state championship win.

Everyone was amazed at how Amity’s Katie Koshes and Southington’s pitcher (Sorry, I don’t have her name) lasted through 15 innings in the CIAC Class LL Softball State Championship game tonight at West Haven High School.

It was so cold with ocean breezes blowing across the field and through the stands, but the neither team missed a beat.

Amity fans were hoping that Koshes could strike out three more batters at the bottom of the 15th inning so that the Lady Spartans could have another shot at being the first to score, but, Southington’s Rachel Dube fired one over the fence and Southington beat Amity 1-0 for the title.
