It’s a shame that the fireworks shows that are usually spread out over 4-5 days have all been condensed into one night.

The most amazing local show by far is the Derby/Shelton dueling fireworks on either side of the Housatonic . Often they fall on the same night as Orange, but it may have been different had the rain not messed things up the other night. The valley firestorm WILL go on tonight at the same time as Orange. (around 9-9:30 p.m.)

West Haven was postponed from Thursday until tonight. They start at Bradley Point at 9 p.m.

One of my childhood favorites – Stratford – at Short Beach begins at 9:30 p.m. I remember standing on the Washington Bridge in Devon with my dog Baron and seeing everything perfectly. Baron was always a trooper, never budged, just wagged his tail and greeted passersby.

Back then, Baron and I could stand on the beach

in Milford and watch Stratford and Bridgeport’s shows simultaneously. But I haven’t seen anything about the Seaside Park fireworks this year.

New Haven starts their light show at East Rock at 9 p.m.

Fireworks enthusiasts will have to choose just one show tonight, and if you love them as much as I do, it will be difficult to decide if you don’t care about the music and just want to see fireworks, which one will you pick?
