This morning, the boys were in East Haven and crushed their hosts in two consecutive games.
In the first game at 10:30 a.m., Orange Pitcher Doug Rives allowed 6 runs, struck out 5, walked 4 and surrendered 5 hits.
Orange took an early 2-0 lead, starting with Sebastian DiMauro’s single. He stole a base, the scored on a Matt Ronai’s single. Ronai scored on Mike Appel’s sacrifice fly ball.
Post 127 scored again in the third and East Haven responded with four runs, scoring on a bases loaded walk and a three-run error.
On the mound for East Haven, Antonio Cancel allowed 9 runs in five innings, walking 4 and striking 4 out.
The two teams battled it out in the fourth inning with East Haven scoring twice, but Orange’s 6 runs, including a two-run error that brought Josh Sabitsky and Ronai in gave Post 127 a 9-6 lead that they would not give up.
In the sixth inning Bob Mirto’s boys made him proud, sealing the deal with 9 runs. Post 127 scored on a wild pitch, a walk by Sabitsky, Mike Appel’s RBI single, a walk by Brian Ronai, a two-run error, Devin Belenski’s sacrifice fly, and a two-run home run by Chris Winkel.
The boys had a short break and then went on to game two.
