Heavy rain from thunderstorms brought flooding to parts of western Connecticut, and a flash flood warning has been issued for Fairfield County until 9:30 p.m. and Middlesex and New Haven counties until 10:30 p.m.
Flash flood watches are also in effect for parts of the state as heavy rain moves in from the west.
Some roads in Stamford and Fairfield have been closed after up to 2 inches of rain has fallen and more is on the way.
Strong storms are expected to return again tomorrowPeriods of very heavy rain are possible tonight, and thunderstorms will likely bring vivid and dangerous lightning, torrential rain and damaging winds to the state Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.
Parts of the state could receive up to 5 inches of rain by Wednesday.
