Orange Police were investigating an unrelated incident at Best Buy, 53 Boston Post Road on July 24 at 7:27 p.m. when officers learned that Marcellus Moyse, 30, or 33 Gold St. #409, New York, NY, was attempting to purchase $1,800 worth of electronics with fraudulent identification and a credit card in someone else’s name.
Moyse taken into custody and charged for the attempted purchase, but would not give officers his correct identification.
He was charged with third-degree identity theft, criminal impersonation, third-degree forgery, sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, possession of less than 1/2 oz of marijuana, criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and criminal attempt to escape custody.
Later, while in custody and police headquarters, Moyse reportedly damaged the door of the cell he was in as part of an unsuccessful attempt to escape.
He was moved to a different cell and held on $30,000 bond for a July 25 court arraignment
