Orange’s Pat Walsh, and John Brown assist people at the HazWaste Central on Saturday.

Three members of the Orange Recycling Committee were among the volunteers helping on Saturday at HazWaste Central at the Regional Water Authority in New Haven. Chair Mitch Goldblatt, Pat Walsh, and John Brown greeted residents from across the region with their florescent orange, Orange Recycling Committee T-shirts and guided them in the disposal of household hazardous waste. The committee will be assisting once again on Oct. 11.

Residents are reminded that can bring household hazardous waste to the Regional Water Authority at 90 Sargent Drive in New Haven on Saturdays through October 25 (except Aug. 30) from 9 a.m. to noon.

Among the popular items disposed are oil and oil based products, gasoline, herbicides, pesticides, furniture polish, floor care products, swimming pool chemicals, and antifreeze. Disposal costs are paid for by each of the towns, so that there is no charge for residents at the disposal site.
