claudia Granata obituaryClaudia (Dinan) Granata MD, age 58, of Orange, beloved wife of Dr. Attilio Granata, MD, died Thursday July 24, 2014 in her residence.

Claudia was born in Bridgeport, the daughter of Althea and the late Vincent Dinan.

She was a 1976 graduate of Smith College, and a 1980 graduate of the Yale School of Medicine. She served her internship and residency from 1980 until 1983 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

She was in private practice with Pulmonary Associates of New Haven and was on the medical staff of both Yale New Haven Hospital and St. Raphael Hospital.

After raising her children she taught middle school Mathamatics at the Foote School in New Haven.

Claudia’s family was the center of her life, she enjoyed knitting, cooking, playing the piano, reading and playing with her beloved dogs.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children; Vincent M., Christopher J., Timothy D. and Elizabeth C. Granata.

Her mother Althea Dinan and her sister Althea Dinan II and her husband Thomas O’Conner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral on Wednesday, July 30, at 11:00 am at the St. Thomas More Chapel at Yale, for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private.

There will be no calling hours. Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave, Bridgeport is in care of arrangements.
