Granata is being held on $2 million bail at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown, charged with felony murder of his mother Dr. Claudia Dinan Granata on July 24.

During a July 25 press conference, Orange Police Chief Robert Gagne said Granata is accused of using sharp objects and blunt impact on his mother’s head neck torso and extremities in their home on Wild Rose Drive, a secluded dead end street off of Orange Center Road.

The young man’s father, grandmother, aunt and tree siblings were in the courtroom for the proceeding, during which Timothy was expected to enter a plea.

He was ordered to undergo a psychiatric examination.
