Orange native Victoria Negri will shoot her feature film “Gold Star,” inspired by her relationship with her late father (and Orange resident of more than 50 years) Carmine Negri, beginning Sept 15 and wrapping on Oct. 4.
“My team and I are extremely excited because Oscar nominated actor Robert Vaughn (Man from UNCLE, Magnificent Seven, Bullitt) will be joining the cast playing the role based on my late father,” Negri said.
Many residents in Orange knew Carmine Negri for his road racing skill and as a longtime participant in the annual Chilly Chili Run. He was one of the senior runners who, along with George “Doc” Whitney, made it okay for older residents to get up and show what they were capable of. He died in November 2012.
“We are looking for PAs to help out on set. It is an unpaid position, but we are looking for people to commit as many days as they can,” Negri said. “It would be a great opportunity to work with a professional and talented cast and crew, and a great resume builder for someone interested in film.
Victoria sought funding on Kickstarter and in just 12 days reached her minimum goal of $7,000, to supplement the funding she had already amassed from private investors, fundraising events, and donations.
Victoria looks forward to shining a cinematic spotlight on Orange; to showing the world this town’s beauty.
