On Monday, Nov. 17, Lynn Skerlick, 57, of 21 Barry Road, Shelton surrendered herself at police headquarters at 10:35 a.m. after learning of a warrant for her arrest.
According to police, the warrant service was the culmination of an investigation that began in September, when the Orange Police Department received a complaint that the credit card of a town resident had been compromised.
Officers learned that the owner of the card, a local elderly woman, was ill and residing in a rehab facility when her former home health aide had used her credit card numerous times, usually to buy gas and cigarettes — total of fraudulent usage was $5573.84.
Skerlick was charged with first-degree identity theft, third-degree larceny, third-degree forgery, illegal use of a credit card, criminal impersonation and credit card theft.
She was held on $5,000 bond, for court Nov. 18.
