The Boy Scouts of America along with the CT Yankee Council of BSA hosts this event every three years in Connecticut. The last three ConnJam events took place right here in Orange at the town’s fairgrounds and in 2015 the event returns and will be held in Orange for the fourth time in history.
The committee searches possible locations to hold 5,000+ scout overnight weekend event. “The town of Orange was chosen again this year due to the central location in the state, the local suppliers willing to help, and the local town departments that work with our committee in making this all happen,” said Jeff Cap from Orange.
Cap is the liaison between the Town of Orange departments and the Boy Scouts of America. This is the second ConnJam event that Cap has held this position, along with other town residents involved with scouting. The town of Orange has been very lucky to host this event now four times in a row over the last twelve years.
“As of today, there are more than 3,000 boy scouts registered to sleep over the entire weekend and another 500+ boy scouts as Saturday-only visitors, along with their families, who are attending this great event. The event is a mini Jamboree for the scouts here in the New England states that we host,” said Cap. All scouts involved with the Boy Scouts of America, from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts and even Venturing Scouts, are invited to attend this event.”
Some of this year’s program highlights are ReGap Greyhound Demo, Olympian Luger Tucker West, Wood Badge Beading Ceremony, Magic Mike Gagne, Indian Dance, Archery BB Guns, Play-Well Lego Engineering, Pinewood Derby Test Track, Stomp Rockets & Straw Rockets, Nature Hike, Regatta Boat Build & Race, Hungry Hungry Cubbos, Obstacle Course, Game Of Throwns, Finding Ethan Radio Adventure, and Paracord Bracelets.
Also, Air Rifle Shooting, Axe Throwing, Shooting, Paintball Shooting, SCUBA, Zip Line, Climbing Walls, Log-Rolling Indoor Pool, OA Indian Village, Patch Trading, Scouting Museum, Super-Sized Inflatable Obstacle Course, T-Shirt Silkscreening, and Teamwork Obstacle Course.

And this is just a small taste of all the activities taking place at the Orange fairgrounds this weekend at ConnJam.
“The theme for ConnJam 2015 is ‘The Power Of One’. History proves all things of value start with one person who acts to better the world around him. You can be that person. We hope that through this weekend and through your Scouting journey you find your inspiration to lead and make a difference. Remember, you have the power to do things great and small that impact many. Are you the one?” This is quoted from the ConnJam Committee Chair, Michael Card.
