Two Orange business owners are joining forces for a fundraiser in honor of DJ Catania, the father of two who died last week.

Today would have been his 30th birthday and his friend, Kristina Kaoud, owner of Material Girls has organized an event at the Orange Ale House, 517 Boston Post Road, along with owner Jim Hassenmayer, in DJ’s memory.

The fundraiser runs from 4 p.m. until close tonight (Wednesday, April 12). Tickets are $25 at the door, and include beer and pizza, raffles and live music.

Raffle tickets will be sold separately, and prizes, including an original painting, gift certificates and more will be drawn at 9 p.m.

Businesses and individuals still have time to donate raffle prizes. Just e-mail Marydaoutis@gmail.com or KKaoud@gmail.com or bring the item with you to the event.

Proceeds will help the Catania family during this difficult time.

If you are unable to attend and would like to make a donation, checks may be made out to Dean J. Catania, Sr., PO Box 747, Orange, CT 06477.

In addition, anyone who shops at Material Girls through Saturday and mentions D.J., Kaoud will also donate 10% of the sale to the fund.
