The July full moon will be its fullest in the early morning of Sunday, July 9 at 12:08 a.m.

The July moon is called the “full buck moon” because it happens during the time of the year during which buck’s antlers are growing in, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.

The July moon sometimes also is referred to as the thunder moon because there tend to be numerous thunderstorms during this time of the year.
