A New Haven man turned himself in at the Orange Police Headquarters on an active warrant for his arrest following an investigation into money being stolen from his place of employment.

Jean Davis, 22, of New Haven, was charged with fourth-degree larceny, first-degree forgery, and criminal impersonation.

Davis was arrested around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, when he turned himself in after hearing of an active warrant for his arrest.

The warrant stemmed from an investigation that started in Sept. 2017.

Davis was employed at the Plato’s Closet store on the Boston Post Road when police learned that he allegedly had written store checks to himself and signed manager approvals on all of them to cash them and keep the money.

Police said Davis stole about $1,303.50 before the store management realized what was going on and contacted the police department.
