Remains of the historic barn

On May 15, 2018, Bethany and the surrounding region experienced tornado damage from category EF-1 tornadoes. Clover Nook Farm experienced a direct hit, as the tornado path ran through the west side of our land. Clover Nook sustained extensive damage from the 100 mph winds that brought devastation in less than 10 minutes.

Our family is extremely blessed for the outpouring of community support that we received since the tornado and we would like to extend our greatest thanks to everyone who lent a hand during our tornado recovery. Fortunately, Clover Nook Farm has been at full operation for the 2018 growing season. However, there remains extensive structural damage at Clover Nook that exceeds our insurance coverage.

On Friday, September 14, 2018, we will be hosting a Clover Nook Tornado Relief Fundraiser in partnership with New England Brewing Company. New England Brewing Company has been generous enough to donate the event space for us to use. The purpose of this fundraiser is to alleviate the costs associated with repairing and rebuilding sustained structural damage from the tornadoes.

Clover Nook visitors will notice the destruction of our “Horse Barn” that was built in 1840 and listed on the CT historical registry. Additional structural damage at Clover Nook can be seen on our two greenhouses which house our early seedlings each spring, tree line destruction that will affect our fields for future growing seasons, and fence line damage compromising our livestock pastures. Our goal is to use proceeds from this fundraiser to alleviate the costs of repairing and rebuilding these structures to sustain our farm in the future.
