Following is a message from Town Attorney Vincent Marino:
The referendum on our annual budget and the Charter Revision will be held tomorrow, May 18th. The polls are open between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the High Plains Community Center.
State law requires a 15% voter turnout (1,700 voters) in order for the Charter Revision vote to count. We need you to come out and vote!
For the past year and a half, I have been working as town attorney with town officials and a number of volunteers to review our town’s charter and determine whether recommended changes are advisable.
After a lot of effort by the Board of Selectmen and the Charter Review Commission, it has been determined that the questions on the attached ballot should be put out to a referendum. While those of us that have been involved in this process believe that these recommendations are in the best interest of our town, the ultimate decision rests with the voters.
