In 2012, Hurricane Sandy swept through Orange and surrounding communities and states causing extensive damage and threatened to cancel Halloween for hundreds of thousands of children everywhere.

Orange resident, Brad Marcus declared war on Sandy with the battle cry, “We won’t let Sandy take our candy” and with the help of Alice DiNicola organized the first ever Orange CT Trunk or Treat.

Each year the popular event grew bigger and children of all ages experience the joy of trick or treating in a safe environment.

Marcus had to bow out for personal reasons this year, leaving the event in the capable hands of his longtime co-chairman, Alice DiNicola.

Alice put a committee of experienced and willing town employees together, determined to make the 2017 Trunk or Treat a memorable event for all involved.

All of the details have not yet been released, but Orange Live is the first to let you know that Trunk or Treat will take place on the Orange Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 28 with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 29.

How it works

Participants arrive at the fairgrounds and set up their cars (decorations, candy, etc) between 12 – 1 p.m.

Children will be let in to “trick or treat” from vehicle to vehicle from 1 – 4 p.m.

For everyone’s safety, No vehicles are allowed to leave (drive on the fairgrounds) until the event is completely over.
