Mike Ficaro didn’t allow a single run as Orange Post 127 defeated West Haven 6-0 on Tuesday, June 20. Ficaro allowed just two hits and induced a groundout from PlayerG to end the game.

Orange grabbed an early lead, Al Smith drove in one when he singled in the first inning and the team got another single in the second inning.

One bright spot for West Haven was a single in the fourth inning.

Ficaro earned the win for Orange, he pitched seven innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking one. The opposing pitcher took the loss for West Haven. He threw five and one third innings, surrendering six runs, ten hits, striking out three, and walking zero.

Orange had ten hits in the game. Andy Hague and Quentin Pitter each collected multiple hits. Hague led Post 127 with three runs batted in. He went 3-for-4 on the day.

One West Haven player led his team with two hits in three at-bats.

The Orange Post 127 American Legion Baseball team hosted New Haven for a double header at Brinley Field in Orange Saturday morning/afternoon.

Smith Throws Shutout As Orange Post 127 Defeats New Haven

Jared Smith didn’t allow a single run as Orange Post 127 defeated New Haven 6-0 on Saturday. Smith allowed just five hits and got one batter to hit into a fielder’s choice to end the game.

Jack Nolan led Orange to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Nolan drove in runs on a single in the third and a home run in the sixth.

Jake Nolan hit a 2-run homer.

Orange scored three runs in the sixth inning. Post 127 scored its runs on a home run by Nolan.

One bright spot for New Haven was a single in the first inning.

Jared Smith earned the win for Post 127. He tossed seven innings, surrendering zero runs, five hits, striking out four, and walking zero. New Haven’s pitcher took the loss. He threw six innings, surrendering six runs, 11 hits, and striking out three.

Orange had 11 hits in the game. Nolan, Andy Hague, and Teddy Hague each collected multiple hits for the home team.

One player led New Haven with two hits in three at-bats. New Haven didn’t commit a single error in the field. Another player had the most chances in the field with one.

Hague’s Walkoff Gives Orange Post 127 Victory Over New Haven

Orange Post 127 took Saturday’s second game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over New Haven. Orange was down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Andy Hague singled and drove in two runs.

New Haven knotted the game up at two in the top of the fifth inning. New Haven scored one run on a wild pitch by Burzynski.

Tyler Appel earned the win for Orange. He went two innings, surrendering two runs, one hit, and striking out three. The opposing team’s pitcher took the loss for New Haven. He threw four innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out two.

Burzynski started the game for Post 127. He threw five innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, striking out two, and walking zero.

Appel and Andy Hague each drove in two runs to lead Orange. Our home team didn’t commit a single error in the field. Burzynski had one chance in the field, the most on the team.

New Haven’s pitcher led his team with two hits in four at-bats.

Post 127’s record for the 2017 season is 4-1, they lost a close game to Stratford 3-1 on the road on Thursday.

Orange American Legion Post 127 Baseball

Orange Post 127 defeated Stratford 3-2 on Tuesday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at two with Orange Post 127  batting in the bottom of the seventh when Adam Hurwitz singled off of Stratford’s pitcher, driving in one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mike Ficaro struck out two, while Stratford’s pitcher sat down five.

IMG_0714The American Legion Orange Post 127 baseball team finally showed what it’s true colors at West Rock Field on Friday night, June 17.

The boys played against New Haven with Mike Ficaro on the mound for 7 innings.

Orange came on strong with four runs in the first inning, and one in the second.

New Haven managed to get four hits and finally scored its only run in the sixth inning.

Orange Post 127 had its first victory 5-1.

On Saturday, June 18, Orange were away in Shelton for a double header (no scores reported yet).

Orange and Shelton will meet again tomorrow, Father’s Day, June 19 at Brinley Field, Orange at 4 p.m.

Pat Winkel celebrates his Grand Slam blast in game one on Monday night.

An exceptional effort by Pat Winkel (#15) led Orange Post 127 to an 11-2 win in seven innings over West Haven on Monday at Brinley Field.

Winkel racked up six RBIs on three hits for Orange Post 127. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fifth and sixth innings.

Orange Post 127 beat West Haven thanks to 13 hits, including seven extra base hits.

Max Scheps (#4) recorded the win for Orange Post 127. He allowed two runs over five innings. Scheps struck out three, walked five and gave up five hits.

Urbina couldn’t get it done on the mound for West Haven, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked three and struck out two.

The bottom of the first saw Orange Post 127 take an early lead, 1-0. Pat Winkel doubled to ignite Orange Post 127’s offense, before Chris Winkel (#23) doubled, bringing his brother home.

The lead stayed with Orange Post 127 after the fifth, when it scored four runs on an RBI double by Matt Ronai (#25), a two-run home run by Pat Winkel, and an RBI triple by Devin Belinski (#21).

Orange Post 127 added five more runs in the bottom of the sixth. The inning looked promising, as Kyle Mattei (#13) singled, plating Jake Smith (#26) to kick things off. That was followed up by Winkel’s Grand Slam blast, bringing home Mike Appel (#1)  Lou DeGennero (#3) and Mattei.
