Second Period
The Indians owned the second period scoring two additional goals in the first 10:39 of the period.
Score 4-1 Watertown.
Third Period
The guests quickly dominated the final period. In less than 5 minutes they scored another 2 goals.
Watertown-Pomperaugh wins 6-1.
Coach Michael “Scooter” Richetelli said, “It was not our best effort today, but it happens.”
The team has been playing without Junior Jason Csejka since he suffered an injury against Newtown at the Danbury Ice Arena on Feb. 17. Richetelli said, “Obviously it hurts when he’s not in the lineup, but we have plenty of guys and we’ve won games without him already. We finished the Newtown game (8-0) and other games since, (Tri-Town 2-1 in OT; Trinity-Catholic 7-6) So, it changes things a bit, but the kids rebounded alright.”
On Monday, Feb. 26 the Spartans go up against the Division 1 Fairfield-Warde team and Richetelli said his boys will be ready to go.
Next up: Fairfield-Warde (10-8) at Wonderland of Ice at 8 p.m. Then, on Thursday, March 1 the first game of the SCC Tournament vs Guilford (17-3) at HOME in West Haven at 5:30 p.m. No matter what happens, the State Tournament begins on March 6.
