The Amity Spartans Lacrosse Team was on the road in Milford at Jonathan Law High School Wednesday, April 19.
Amity took an early lead with seven goals in the first quarter. They kept up the momentum with six additional goals in the second.
Both the Spartans and the Lawmen scored three goals in the third and Amity wrapped things up in the final quarter with an additional two goals.

Amity — Adam Cusano made 5 goals and had 1 assist; Tyler Vincent made 4 goals; Ryan Rattley, Mark DellaTorre and Tyler Ballaro each made 2 goals; Colin Hughes made 1 goal and had 4 assists; Harry Brochinsky and Luke Smith each made 1 goal and had 2 assists; Max Trachten had 2 assists; Cory Sachs and Matt Merriam each had 1 assist.

Jonathan Law —  Cole Egersheim made 2 goals and had 1 assist; Hayden Hulme made 1 goal.

Amity outshot Jonathan Law 34-13.

IMG_0501The Amity Spartans Boys Lacrosse Team hosted the Branford Hornets in Woodbridge today.
The home team took an early lead in the first quarter (2-1), but Branford pulled ahead with 2 goals in the second (3-2).
Amity tied things up in the third quarter (3-3) and each team scored 1 goal in the fourth (4-4) forcing the game into overtime.
Both teams battled for the win, but in the end the Spartans were stung by the Hornets when the visitors scored 1 final goal, taking a 5-4 victory.

IMG_0572The Amity boys lacrosse team is trying its best this season, with many new faces and everyone finding his place. They’ve had some tough match ups, but none, so far as ruthless as the game with Fairfield Prep in Woodbridge on April 21.

The Spartans knew going in that the Jesuits were strong opponents and that they would have a battle ahead, but Prep was relentless in its assault on goalie Matt Perrotti, who couldn’t catch a break.

The Jesuits racked up 7 points in the first quarter and another 7 in the second, then rounded things out with 1 goal in the third.

Ian MacDonald scored a goal in the third quarter, saving the Spartans from a shut-out.

Prep’s Pointmakers:

Brendan Hoffman made 4 goals; Ethan Grandolfo made 4 goals and had 2 assists; Colin Smalkais made 2 goals;Dale Duffy made 2 goals and had 2 assists; Connor Raymond and Owen Callahan each made 1 goal; Mitch Savoca made 1 goal and had 2 assists; Chris Brown had 4 assists; Ryan Marusi had 1 assist.

Fairfield Prep’s goaltender Jack O’Connor made 4 saves, and teammate Matt Pinho made 3 saves.

Prep outshot Amity 29-8.

The Indians stayed ahead of the Spartans from the first quarter to the last.

Guilford: Will Dacey made 4 goals, Robbie LoRicco made 4 goals and had 2 assists, John Delucia made 2 goals, Ben Levy made 1 goal and had 2 assists, Stephen Page and Sam Jankura each had 1 assist.

Amity goaltender Matt Perrotti made 15 saves; Guilford’s James Bright made 8 saves.

The Tigers took a quick lead and didn’t look back.

IMG_9638Amity hosted Wilbur Cross today in Woodbridge, and showed no mercy.

At the end of the first quarter, the Spartans were ahead 5-0

By the half, they were at 9-0.

Amity Goalies Evan Campbell and James Chapman took turns manning the net. Campbell made 2 saves, Chapman, 3. 

Amity
High scorer was Steve Sember with 3 goals and 2 assists; Brad Uscilla made 2 goals and 2 assists; Ian MacDonald made 2 goals; Ajay King 1 goal, 1 assist; Ben DiMauro, Bubba Pignataro, Tyler Burns, Nick Coassin, Jesse Cala, and Sean Grenier each added 1 goal for the Spartans. Joe Choiniere had 2 assists. 

Amity outshot Wilbur Cross 19-8.

Wilbur Cross Goal Tender Chris Arce made 3 saves. 

Amity added 4 goals in the third quarter and 1 in the final, defeating Wilbur Cross 14-0

joey lacrosseAmity High School’s Spring Sports teams soon will begin hitting the fields and stadiums.
To kick things off, the Amity High School Boys Lacrosse team will host a Breakfast for Dinner Fundraiser at Chip’s Family Restaurant, 321 Boston Post Road, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12 with three seatings at 5pm, 6:15pm or 7pm.

Tickets are $10 each and walk-ins are welcome.

Dinner includes 2 Buttermilk Pancakes, 2 Eggs and 2 Pieces of Bacon or Sausage

Meet the Team Captains, Matt Milner, Austin Burns and Joey Choiniere and wish them a winning season.
