On Tuesday, January 23 the Amity Wrestling team beat a historically tough Branford squad 58-15 to remain undefeated in the SCC B division.

Head Coach Ryan Roddy stated “It was a great win tonight with the older wrestlers setting the tone for the team with pins and the younger kids are getting better every week. The atmosphere in the wrestling room is great. The wrestlers are working hard in practice and their hard work is showing during their matches.”

The Amity wrestling team is headed to Ridgefield this coming Saturday, January 27 to compete in the Ridgefield Challenge where they will face some of the top teams in Connecticut and New York.

Boys Soccer: Amity Defeats Branford In Woodbridge

The Amity Spartans Boys Soccer Team hasn’t had the most stellar season, so when they went up against Branford on Thursday, Oct. 12, they knew they were in for a battle.

Amity toughed it out for the first half and made a few shots, only to have Branford’s goalie make a save at the last second. The game was scoreless at the half.

Branford is, without a doubt a good team, very strong, skilled and competitive. One player was repeatedly cited by the referee and each time, he threw his hands up in the air and offered an excuse for his bad behavior: “I was pushed,” “I was tripped.” (— uh, no you weren’t!) I won’t mention his name or jersey number but, for a clue, look at the photos.

In the second half Amity continued to give Branford a run for its money — something the visitors didn’t expect — and the Spartans scored the only goal of the game with a little more than 20 minutes left on the clock.

It was a sweet victory for the Amity Spartans.

Records: Amity 5-7, Branford 8-3-1

Using that information, here’s the rundown:
