Chloe Brinton (15) scored 15 points in Friday’s game.

On Tuesday, Jan. 8, the Boys Basketball team pulled off an unbelievable 61-59 win against hand that left fans at the edge of their seats. On Friday, Jan. 11, the Girls offered up an equally exciting nail biter in an SCC Housatonic victory against Lyman Hall.

Chloe Brinton scored 15 points for the Lady Spartans, Molly Ronan made 10 points and Janae Graham added 9 points for Amity.

Brinton and Kathleen Seng both shot 3-pointers.

High scorers for the Lyman Hall Trojans were Taylor Mierzejewski and Krista Petersen each with 12 points, followed by Naomi Rascati with 7 points.

Both teams played fast and furious and kept going until the last second of the game.

Amity Coach Michelle Martinik was very happy with her team’s performance after a devastating loss [51-47] to Jonathan Law on Tuesday.

“Coming off that loss we really knew we had to turn it around. We had some great contributions from our bench today, Bella [Isabella Bierezowiec #21]  did awesome and Caroline [Caroline McDonald #22] really stepped up,” Martinik said. “Overall, we did really great, we attacked ‘em and our defense was a lot better than it was at Law and I think that really helped out.”

“Lyman Hall is tough. They’re all quick and athletic. It was a great matchup and Kristin [Kristin Post #12] and Molly [Molly Ronan #41] did a great job,” she said. “With this game we qualified for states and we’re 2-0 in the division.”

Other Amity players who scored are Kristen Post-4, Caroline McDonald-4, Isabella Bierezowiec-2, and Kathleen Seng-3.

Records: Spartans (8-2)  Trojans (5-5).
